Willow Lake Campground, Geneva Ohio

 Willow Lake Campground-Geneva, Ohio

Travel from Elkhart to Geneva was the longest distance we have traveled in one day on our adventure.  It was 304 miles, which may not seem like much in comparison to how we used to travel, but it's a long haul in a RV. We knew this when we were planning the trip, so this was a two day rest stop.  Soon after we arrived, we noticed water leaking and assumed it was just spillage from overfilling the tank. The following morning, there was still water dripping onto the pad.  We unsuccessfully tried several things to find the cause of the leak.  Finally,  we had to bite the bullet and start disassembly to find the source of the leak.  Thankfully, the leak was contained to the basement, which is constructed out of hard fiberglass.  There wasn't any damage to the coach or the contents.

Compartment disassembly was performed.  All work had to be performed in this very small area pictured above. Lisa can squeeze into the space, unfortunately, Mark cannot. He was bruised and battered by the time it was fixed.  We discovered there were 2 stainless steel braided hoses stretched tightly connecting the Aquahot to the Pex lines for water distribution.  The lines had been stressed over the edge of the compartment. This was a very poor engineering design. Mark was able to remove a section of the housing compartment to prevent this from happening in the future and making any future repairs more accessible.  After 40,000 miles of movement, the stainless steel was worn and frayed causing the internal plastic hose to leak.  This was about a 12 hour repair over 2 days.  Thankfully, we were able to repair the problem ourselves and had the time to do the work. We estimated it would have been at least a thousand dollar repair if we had to call someone.

This problem ended up being our main focus of this stop.  We didn't really get to see or do much else. Mark worked outside with Karma's help and Lisa worked inside.

Off to our next stop.....
