Elkhart RV Resort by Rjourney in Elkhart, IN
This was another family visit stop to see one of our older brothers. One of the benefits of our travel plans is our ability to see as many family members and friends as we can. When we were working and raising our families, it was hard to see many of the people we love. Unfortunately, many of the times we were able to see some of our family was limited to weddings and funerals. It is very nice to be able to visit the people we love and spend some quality time with them.
We were near South Bend, so we ran over to Notre Dame. Luckily for us, the students were not on campus yet, so we were able to walk around and park easily.
All were historical coaches for Notre Dame and all won National Championships for the School. There are 4 main gates to the Stadium named for the different Coaches. We did notice there is not a Frank Leahy gate.
Notre Dame has preselected gates for the students when entering the Student Section. This was interesting because neither of us had ever noticed this before at any other stadium.
Touchdown Jesus is in the background. It is much further from the stadium than they make it appear when televising games.
Sant Edward is the Confessor Patron St of the Founder Fr Ed Sorin.
The Notre Dame Administration Building, built in 1879, is a regal tribute to years gone by. The Golden Dome on top is one of the most famous Landmarks in the United States

Notre Dame Cathedral is just simply magnificent. Catholic churches tend to be stunning and this one is no exception. This was the second church erected on the campus and was built in 1870-1871. The craftmanship required to erect such splendor without electricity or computers is impressive.
Pictures of the inside of the Cathedral barely do it justice. There are actually 2 altars- the main one in front and the smaller one in back. We were told by the "guide" that the one in the rear is commonly used for weddings.
The Pipe Organ is in the Choir loft in the back of the church. The splendor of Catholic churches amazes me. We love visiting churches, especially the old ones. I cannot imagine anything being more magnificent than this one. Just seeing this church was well worth the visit to the campus. The campus does a great job giving homage to Jesus and football.
The family out for a hike at Warren Dunes State Park stopped for a photo op.
We spent most of our stay visiting our brother and his trusty companion. It is always fulfilling to spend quality time with those we love. Tomorrow is never promised for any of us. We are so thankful we are able to visit and see our gorgeous country but we are even more thankful for spending time with our family.
