Routt County Fairgrounds - Routt, Colorado
Routt county was a stopping point in our travel to Rocky Mountain National Park. We try to keep our travel distance under 300 miles/day and to this point, we have been fairly successful. We never travel 2 days in a row.
With that being said, we looked in the area for something to do on our day of leisure. What we found was Fish Creek Falls, a 285 foot waterfall, in Steamboat Springs. With the heavy snowfall the area received over the winter, the water was raging. Some of the ski resorts were still open for spring skiing.
As we were hiking, we saw this water cascading down along the trail.
The trail on the other side of the river was closed. We were not able to determine if it was because of the water flow or the fact the trail was still buried under deep snow.
This mini pit stop ended up being a nice day to get outside, enjoy the sun and get some exercise. Some of these little side trips end up being as/more interesting than we expected. Some days it is good to have a day of rest or to catch up on our shopping and chores.
