Hotel 46 NYC Broadway and Baseball

Hotel 46 NYC- Broadway and Baseball

While we were in New York, we wanted to get the full NYC experience-  our first plans included Broadway,  Broadcast TV and some Yankees baseball.

We decided to see a taping of Gutfeld. The studio was very close to our hotel, so it was an easy walk.  Gutfeld hosts a late night show on Fox that we occasionally watch.  Of course none of his regular guests that we like were there for this taping.  The taping was interesting. It was recorded as if we were live, but it aired several hours later. They did the whole show in one take.

We saw Phantom of the Opera at the Majestic Theatre.  We were less than a 5 minute walk from our hotel to the theater. We chose this show because it is such an icon.  It was an incredible show. We saw Love Never Dies (which is a sequel to Phantom) in Memphis at the Orpheum as a travelling Broadway show almost exactly 4 years ago.  Love Never Dies was the first Broadway show we saw at the Orpheum and Phantom was our first show actually on Broadway. We had season tickets at the Orpheum every year we lived in MS (even though we lost a year due to COVID).  We were curious to compare travelling Broadway with the real thing. We actually did not have a vastly different experience.  The quality of the shows we saw in Memphis was nearly identical to the ones we saw on Broadway.

Our second Broadway show was Chicago.  Chicago is celebrating 25 years on Broadway. Many of the cast members were reprising their former roles, so it was a very experienced cast.  We were joined at this show by Megan and Adrian which made it all the more special.  Chicago lacks the impressive sets and costumes so famous in many of the shows. This show is all about the cast, the music and the story. This show was very different, but interesting.

A view of Yankees Stadium from the Train Station.  We took a train rather than the subway to the stadium. Of course we had bought subway tickets instead of train tickets, so we ended up buying both.

This was our entry gate to the stadium. The stadium did a good job of moving the crowd through the process. It did remind me of cattle being herded.

We snapped this field view of Yankee stadium as the crowd was being herded inside the stadium.  We  (Lisa, Mark Megan and Adrian) attended the Labor day game. It was a contest between the Yankees vs the Twins. We got to see Megan's favorite player, Aaron Judge, hit a homerun. The Yankees won the game 5-2. Mark was the lone one rooting for the Twins, because that is just who he is. Of course you can't attend a baseball game without hot dogs and overpriced stadium food. Luckily, our seats were in the shade all day because it was a hot one.

We left the stadium and headed to Chinatown and Little Italy...
