Blossvale NY to and From NYC Liberatore Campground

Blossvale, NY to and From NYC - Liberatore Compound

We came to New York City without Ethel or Fred (RV or SUV). We left them in the care of Diana and Amanda Liberatore, our dear, lifelong friends near Syracuse.  They also volunteered to keep Karma. They each have a Labrador about his size, so he was in doggie heaven. We knew he would be more than well cared for while we were gone. They convinced us to take the train from Rome, NY to Manhattan. They were right- the train ended up being our best possible option to get to the city. This was the first time Lisa had ever ridden a train. This whole trip was full of many "firsts". Mandy was an angel and both took us and picked us up from the train. They are the kind of friends that are we consider to be family. Each person is blessed with only a few of these special friends in a lifetime. We are so thankful to have them in our lives.

We are on the train for our big adventure in NYC. Watch out NYC, here we come!!

Our first view of the Hudson River from the train. How cool would it have been to witness Sully landing his plane on the Hudson!!! So no Sully today, but it was still a pretty view.

The Kingston-Rhinecliff bridge as we see it off in the distance and again as we went past it. Mark is intrigued by bridges. I think it is the engineering process that he finds so amazing.

The cliffs along the Hudson River add a bit of variety to the landscape as we travel to the hustle and bustle of the city. A little bit of calm before the storm as our excitement for the trip intensifies.

Lisa is in Time Square for her first ever visit to NYC. We are a long way away from our simple life in rural MS just a few months ago. The excitement of the city is palpable.

We were in the Bronx seeing the sights. That is the Empire State Building across the river.

While in the Bronx, we could see the Statue of Liberty from the riverfront.

The Hudson–Athens Lighthouse, sometimes called the Hudson City light, is a lighthouse located in the Hudson River in NY. It was constructed in 1874. Lightkeepers lived with their families inside the lighthouse until the 1960's.

We had an amazing trip, but we had a train waiting to take us back to the Liberators and KARMA!!! We know he was spoiled rotten and loved playing with Doc and Remy, but we did miss the big doofus (no matter what Mark says!!!)  We will spend a few days with the Liberatore's and then move on with our adventure.
